Aspire has opened a new lounge at the Montréal Trudeau Airport (YUL). The new Aspire AMEX lounge is located in the YUL domestic terminal, near Gate 1, and is open daily from 05:00 to 21:00 (9:00 pm). The lounge is currently open, but it is noted to be in a "soft opening phase." There should be an official grand opening in the next months.

Access

The new Aspire lounge is a common-use lounge, available to anyone departing from YUL domestically. Since the lounge is partnered with American Express, you can use any of the top-tier American Express cards, including The Platinum Card and The Centurion Card. You can also access the lounge using lounge programs, including Priority Pass, DragonPass, Mastercard TravelPass, and Visa Airport Companion. Visitors using these other access programs are limited to visits of up to 3 hours before flight departure time. Finally, for those without access to any card programs, you can also purchase a day pass online.

Amenities

The lounge accommodates 100 people and is divided into several distinct zones, each catering to different activities within the lounge. The lounge features a dining area, a productivity-focused workspace, and a comfortable living room section with panoramic views of the ramp, as well as dedicated relaxation spaces. For those in a hurry, there is a grab-and-go spot to grab food to take away. The lounge does not have restrooms or showers. To use the restroom, you will need to exit the lounge and use the one in the terminal. The lounge also offers a convenient mobile website (accessible via QR code), allowing you to view magazines, newspapers, and order food or beverage items.

Dining and Bar

The lounge offers table service, allowing you to order food and drinks directly to your spot using a handy QR code on your mobile device. The full menu features a diverse selection of snacks, meals, and beverages, including a variety of cocktails. I took a look at the menu, and here are some of the highlights:

The lounge has also partnered with the renowned Cloakroom Bar in Montréal to create several featured cocktails, including the Arch Angel, I'll Have Another ($), and OFish ($).

The menu offers premium ($) beverages and dining options for a nominal up-charge. Some of the charges include top-shelf liquor, salmon, and other dining options. Most of these upgrades are waived if you are using an American Express card to enter the lounge.

Closing Thoughts

This lounge looks very promising for those travelling domestically in Canada. This is also a significant addition, considering that up to now, there was only one other lounge in the domestic terminal, operated by Air Canada.
