Escape Lounges have opened a lounge at the Cairns Airport (CNS) in Northeastern Australia for passengers traveling on international flights. The lounge is open to the public regardless of airline or status.

The lounge opened on March 21st, 2025, with an official ribbon cutting and celebration. The Cairns Escape Lounge is located in the International Terminal (T1) near Gate 2 on Level 2, near security screening and immigration. The hours are slightly strange for a lounge, but the Cairns Escape lounge is open daily from 09:00 - 12:00 (noon). Additionally, the lounge is open from 14:00 to 19:00 (7 PM) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This location is the first of two announced Escape Lounges to open in Australia, with the other location opening soon in Brisbane (BNE).

Access to the Escape Lounge is offered from partner airlines or via paid access. The walk-up (day pass) rate is A$70.00 (~$44 USD), and online pre-booking (coming soon) will cost A$60.00 (~$38 USD) per passenger. Children under 24 months are free. Singapore Airlines is also showing the Cairns Escape Lounge as a "Partner Lounge," so it appears they offer access to eligible Singapore passengers.

Cairns Airport is located on the coast of the Coral Sea in the state of Queensland. The Cairns airport is Australia's seventh busiest airport, offering service to various international locations and many domestic flights. Air New Zealand, Air Asia, Alliance Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Fiji Airways, Jetstar, Qantas, Singapore, Virgin Australia, and other smaller airlines currently offer air service. The Cairns airport is in the process of many terminal upgrades, which are due for completion at the end of 2025.

Closing Thoughts: I am surprised that for an airport with over nine international destinations and over 35 domestic routes, the airport only has two lounges (one in each terminal), but this looks like a great addition for Cairns passengers.
