Filed under cool tools is a very useful app for tracking and joining Priority Pass (and other) lounge waitlists. The app is called LoungeQ, and it solves a few travel challenges all in a simple-to-use interface. LoungeQ works on both desktop and mobile devices so you can use it when you need it, without anything to install. The service is currently working with 60 lounges across 49 airports worldwide.

In a nutshell, the app uses waitlist data from waitlist pages toĀ provide estimated wait times and direct links to join the waitlist for a given lounge. Where it is super valuable is upon arriving at an airport, simply open LoungeQ and check wait times.

Example Senario: Arrive at Atlanta (ATL). Once you are allowed to turn on your phone such as during the taxi, open LoungeQ type and ATL and check the estimated wait. If the wait is longer than it will take you to deplane and get to the lounge add your name to the list then, otherwise wait until you are off the plane to join waitlist.

It is a timeing thing, most lounges have a grace period once your name clears on the waitlist, and if you don't arrive in time they remove you from the list (see example text message from The Club in New Orleans).

Application Features

Walk Guide

This is a super cool feature. It will calculate the estimated walk time from your arrival gate to a given lounge, plus give you instructions on how to get there. I tested in my most familar airport ATL and it seemed increably accurate, but the walk times seemed a little short, but the directions were spot on.

Layover Trip Planner

This will allow you to enter segments of your trip and it will show you what lounges you can go to along the way. Not sure useful to me, but I can see some people using this if they are not famiar with the airports on their route.

Crowd Insights & Trends

As a lounge nerd, I love the dataĀ on this page. It shows some useful information such as Best Time to Visit and Crowd Density, showing things like 8am-9am and 5pm-6pm are super busy times, when are the best times to visit, and which airports have the longest waits.

Closing Thoughts

One of the most annoying apsects customers experience at a lounge is the wait to get in, this app really helps.Ā I would love to see Capital One, Chase, and other lounges added, but it is nice to see Alaska lounges, and some others on the list. I REALLY hope this does not become one of those ā€œthis is why we can't have nice thingsā€ situations and people don't abuse the service. But as a fellow developer, I am very impressed and happy to see this creative solution.
