American Airlines has announced it will be expanding its lounge presence at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). There were two notable items announced: a brand new Flagship lounge and an expansion of the existing Admirals Club. The date for these changes has not yet been announced, but I anticipate seeing these changes sometime in 2026.

We serve millions of customers as they travel through CLT, and we’re excited to continue to elevate their experience when traveling with us. - Ralph Lopez, American's Senior Vice President of CLT Operations

Charlotte (CLT) is American’s second-largest hub (following DFW), connecting millions of passengers to more than 170 destinations in 27 countries. American employs approximately 15,500 employees in Charlotte.

American Lounges in Charlotte

American currently operates three lounges at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) spanning three different concourses.

  1. Provisions by Admirals Club - Concourse A
  2. Admirals Club - Concourse B, near Gate B3
  3. Admirals Club - Concourse C/D
  4. Coming Soon: Flagship Lounge

The Flagship

The Flagship lounges are known for their premium amenities, including a champagne greeting upon arrival and locally inspired menus curated by award-winning chefs. American recently debuted its highly anticipated Flagship lounge at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) - Terminal A, marking American’s fifth Flagship lounge and ninth premium lounge within its worldwide network.

One of the new concepts I am excited to hear about is the "Villas"; these areas are designed for specific customer needs. Including amenities are for enhanced privacy, a mental reset in the spa-style shower suites, workstations, and/or a kid-friendly family room.

Access

For those traveling domestically, access to the Admirals Club lounge is available through an Admirals Club membership, qualifying oneworld status or the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard. Customers can also purchase a One Day Pass, eligible for 24 hours, for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles. AAdvantage members with Platinum status or higher and non-AAdvantage oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members on qualifying itineraries can visit the Flagship lounge when traveling internationally in a Flagship cabin. Single Visit Passes are also available for $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles.

Closing Thoughts

The new Flagship lounge will become the sixth Flagship location in the American Airlines network. I really look forward to taking a trip to Charlotte once the lounge upgrades are complete so that I can experience both the Provisions lounge and the new Flagship lounge. Charlotte is one of the better lounge-friendly airports in the country. There is a Centurion Lounge, Delta Sky Club, The Club, Gameway, Be Relax Spa, and Minute Suites options to choose from.
