Delta One Opens New Lounge at New York Kennedy Airport (JFK)

Delta has opened its first-ever business class lounge at the New York Kennedy (JFK) airport. The new Delta One Lounge at JFK opened June 26, 2024. Other airlines, such as American and United, have already adopted this premium lounge concept with their "Flagship" and "Polaris" branded lounges, but until now Delta lacked a premium lounge. This Delta One lounge will be joined by additional (Delta One) lounges in Boston (BOS) and Los Angeles (LAX) later this year, and there are rumors of a Seattle (SEA) Delta One Lounge opening in 2025. The Delta One lounge focuses on amenities and services for the premium and business traveler.

Location & Hours

The lounge is in JFK Terminal 4 between the A and B concourses. It is open daily from 04:30 to 23:00 (11 pm), ensuring premium customers can enjoy its amenities before and after their flights. One really nice thing about this lounge is that it is both an arrival and departure lounge, meaning you can go to the lounge upon arriving - similar to the related Delta Sky Clubs.

Amenities

First off, it's important to mention that this lounge is massive, spanning 39,707 square feet (3,689 m²) and providing room for 515 passengers—larger than any other Delta Sky Club.

Also, a first for Delta is a sit-down (pre-flight) dining area that can accommodate up to 140 customers with table service. Menu items include steak tartare, lasagna Bolognese, and Hamachi crudo. There is also a market and bakery area with walk-up service. Another unique touch is a rejuvenation bar offering non-alcoholic drinks and infused waters.

Besides the food and beverage options, there is a spa. This lounge includes a 40-seat terrace, eight shower rooms, and related amenities, including bathrobes and slippers. The shower suites are stocked with products from Grown Alchemist. The lounge features full-body massage chairs and other spa treatments in the wellness area. The lounge also features soundproof work booths and a shoe shine area.

One semi-unique item of the lounge is a Terrace (observation deck) that is heated and has large windows with views of the runway and airport. The roof also is retractable for times when the weather is appropriate.

Access

Sky Club and Delta One Lounges have different access rules. Delta Sky Club memberships and Delta co-branded credit cards do not grant access to Delta One Lounge. Below are the three entrance options into a Delta One Lounge:

Guest policy: Delta One passengers cannot bring guests. Only eligible Delta 360° members may bring others — either their immediate family (spouse or domestic partner and children under 21) or up to 2 companion guests — for a fee of $100 USD or 10,000 SkyMiles per person. Guests must be flying on a same-day Delta-operated flight.

Closing Thoughts

I am surprised they did not open the first Delta One Lounge in Atlanta to fine-tune the product easily, but JFK makes sense. I will be in Los Angeles in September and hopefully will get a chance to review that location if it has opened. I have been to the Delta Sky Club at LAX a handful of times, and it still is in my top lounges, but the lounge is often overcrowded. Furthermore, I can only imagine that the BOS, LAX, and JFK lounges will benefit by reduced crowding as these Delta One lounges open.
