Star Alliance has opened a new and much larger lounge at the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN) in China. This new location replaces their previous lounge in Terminal 1. The new Terminal 3 lounge opened on April 28, 2026, and is roughly double the size of the previous location, now spanning 15,070 square feet (1,400 m²) with seating for about 245 customers. The lounge operates 24/7 and is accessible to first- and business-class passengers traveling on Star Alliance member airlines, as well as Star Alliance Gold members regardless of cabin class.
The new location has lots of amenities, including an outdoor garden, a dedicated tea experience, upscale dining, sleep pods, private VIP rooms, high-speed internet (Wi-Fi), and more. Dining is provided by a five-star hotel catering team, offering a mix of Chinese and Western dishes, including Cantonese specialties.
There are currently 10 Star Alliance member airlines operating around 1,500 weekly flights to 52 destinations across 10 countries from Guangzhou, including Air China, ANA, Asiana, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian, EVA Air, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, THAI, and Turkish Airlines.
There are seven dedicated Star Alliance-branded lounges across four continents located at the following airports:

- Guangzhou (CAN)
- Rio de Janeiro (GIG)
- Paris (CDG)

Closing Thoughts
Lounge relocations are sometimes hard to track, but this one looks like an amazing upgrade and will be a very welcome to Star Alliance passengers. Seems like the Rome (FCO) location has been closed for a while; I do wonder if it will reopen or just remain closed due to all the other lounge options, especially with ITA joining Star Alliance and FCO having a strong ITA with two lounges in Rome.
