Lounge Review: Capital One Lounge Denver International Airport (DEN)
During my last trip to Sacramento, I had a layover in Denver (DEN) and was able to spend a bit of time in the Capital One Lounge. I was traveling alone and arrived at the lounge around 4:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon.
Location and Access
The Denver Capital One lounge is situated on the mezzanine in A concourse, near Gate 34. To access the lounge, take the escalator up from the boarding area directly to the reception desk and the grab-and-go area.
When I arrived, the lounge was at capacity and had an estimated wait of 50 minutes. I was met by an employee at the bottom of the escalator who added my name to the waitlist. But luckily, after just 20 minutes, I received a message letting me know it was my turn and to arrive in the next 10 minutes or my reservation would be cancelled.
I went up the escalator and was met by a friendly employee at the reception desk; the check-in process simply involved scanning my boarding pass and Venture X card and only took about 2 minutes. I was also given a welcome card with (Wi-Fi) internet connection information and some basic lounge guidance.
Tip: In hindsight I wish I would have used the mobile waitlist feature just after landing; that might have prevented me from waiting the 20 minutes.
Lounge Amenities
The overall lounge ambiance had a natural feeling with wood textures, natural lighting, varied art, and plants around the seating areas. Since the lounge is on the mezzanine, it wraps around the gate areas below. With all of this space, they were able to add lots of zones, including private workrooms, areas with ramp views, and relaxation areas. I was not able to visit the relaxation room, but I did check out the conference room (workroom) and the parents room (nursing room).
The parents room was very nice, roomy, and fully stocked—it even had diapers and wipes. I was actually kind of surprised how big it was, but I think it would be great for those traveling with little kids.
Seating and Work Areas
In my opinion, the seating and work areas make this lounge shine above others. I liked how as I walked around the lounge, it transformed from a busy and noisy area around the bar to a quiet and more isolated ambiance as I moved around to other areas. There are floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the terminal and ramp area, which of course is great for planespotting.
Capital One did a great job of having a variety of work areas and relaxation areas. There were semi-private seating areas as well as group seating, depending on the need. I really liked the enclosed work areas found around the lounge, as well as the large workroom (conference room), which was enclosed in glass and had a large table with seating for about 5 people. Even though the lounge was full, there was still seating to be found.
Food and Beverage
The lounge has an amazing assortment of food and beverages. The in-lounge food is served as tapas in single-serve containers, and they had at least 10 choices to pick from. This is great because it gives you a chance to try different items and reduce waste. All the food is clearly labeled, so you can see what is vegetarian or look out for any other special diets. The lounge also has a grab-and-go section (near the entrance) where you can grab items to take with you on your flight. Unlike other lounge operators, you don't have to pick between grab-and-go or dine-in; you can do both if you wish. While I was there, I tried the Sesame Brussels Sprouts, Butternut Squash Bisque, and Roasted Beet Hummus. The food is served in multiple areas, including a cold buffet and a warm buffet, depending on what you are getting. The bar is fully stocked and offers barista espresso, mocktails, draft beer, wine, and a wide range of cocktails.
There is also a bakery area serving croissants, cookies, and other baked goods. See the Capital One Denver—Sample Menu for some example food and bar items. The grab-and-go area has both beverages and food. There are wraps, salads, desserts, and other snacks to pick from. For my flight home I grabbed a container of their spring water and a Veggie Protein Greek Wrap, which I enjoyed on the plane.
Restrooms and Showers
The restrooms were clean, roomy, and private. I did not check out the shower room while I was there, but I know they have one that you can reserve for use when in the lounge. On the sink there was soap, lotion, and very nice individual hand towels.
Internet and Noise
I did not use the Wi-Fi or record the noise levels while in the lounge. But my previous times at Capital One Lounges, the Wi-Fi speeds were amazing.

Closing Thoughts
Overall, I was very impressed with this lounge, especially the food, decor, and seating zones. With the exception of the reception desk, the service at the bar and food areas was ok, but nothing amazing. It is worth noting that Denver is the 3rd busiest airport in the United States (by enplanements), and therefore overcrowding will remain an issue, so make sure to plan enough time in your connection or departure to visit the lounge.
