Lounge Review: Capital One Lounge Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

During a recent connection from San Diego, I got a chance to spend two hours at the Capital One Lounge at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). Like other Capital One Lounges, I was very impressed and enjoyed everything during my stay and truly look forward to going back.

Location and Access

The lounge is located on the mezzanine "Atrium" of Terminal D, close to Gate D50, near the escalators and is open daily from 05:00 to 23:00 (11 PM). I was connecting, so I took the (Blue Line) train from Terminal 1 and did not have to reclear security. Once I arrived (around 3:30 pm on a Wednesday) at the lounge, I walked in and was greeted at the desk and checked in without any delay. I used my Capital One Venture X card and showed the assistant my boarding pass. When checking in, you can also reserve the Relaxation Room or one of the two Work Rooms, or you can use a QR code found on the wall near each of those amenities.

Lounge Amenities

The lounge is packed full of amenities; besides the food and bar area, the quiet room was my other favorite amenity. This room is located in the same hallway as the restrooms and is bookable using a QR code on the door or at the front desk. You can reserve this relaxation room for 30 minutes. I booked my time at the front desk, and they were able to get me right in. Once inside the room, there is an area for sitting as well as lots of room for doing yoga, prayer, or just taking a quick rest. I chose to spend 20 minutes in the pod. I programmed it using the controller for 20 minutes and closed the cover to give me near total darkness. The controller provides programming for sound, volume, vibrations, and more. The room was so relaxing and quiet I almost fell asleep; I even took a second to record the sound levels, and they were 33.4 dB. The room also has lighting controls so you can dim the ligthing across 3 zones.

Throughout the lounge and in the restrooms, there is a varied assortment of art as well as plants and modern furnishings. There are also flight monitors in various parts of the lounge for keeping up with flight information. The lounge also has a nice seating area with outside views of the ramp area and of Terminal 3.

Seating and Work Areas

Capital One has done a great job balancing various types of seating throughout the lounge. Seating includes spots for single travelers, those wanting to work, window seating, and large tables for up to 4 people. There is also seating at the bar and around the bar area. The workrooms are great for having a phone call or focusing on work.

Food and Beverage

The food and beverage offerings in the lounge were just amazing. I enjoyed everything I had while in and out of the lounge (meaning grab-and-go). Food included a buffet area with various tapas-style options, both warm and cold, as well as a specific area for desserts. The lounge did a great job of marking vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian options for customers looking for specific diets.

Some of the food selections I tried while in the lounge included beet, endive, and goat cheese salad, as well as hummus and pita bread and a small serving of honeynut squash soup. I felt both full and healthy after eating. The nice part was that I could enjoy some light snacks knowing I was going to visit the grab-and-go section on the way out of the lounge.

The drinks are where the lounge provides virtually everything you might want, starting with self-serve tea, coffee, cold brew, sparkling or still water, and lemonade. For specialty beverages, the fully tendered bar serves espresso, draft beer, wine, Vegas-themed cocktails, and spirits. The bar area had a seating area, or you could order any drink and take it with you.

Grab & Go

On my way out to catch my flight, I stopped by the Grab & Go area to grab a few snacks for my flight home. They offered many items, including a turkey & cheddar pretzel sandwich, an Italian chopped salad, white bean & chickpea salad with feta, coffee, teas, and several dessert choices, all with to-go packaging. I grabbed a falafel & lettuce wrap, two cookies, and a carton of water. They all tasted great, and it was so nice to have that on my 2-hour flight back home.

Restrooms and Showers

The all-gender private restrooms were spotless, spacious, with modern art and decor. Each of the ones I visited had a baby changing table, soap, and lotion. They also had an accessible restroom, with lots of space, and grab bars. This lounge does not have a shower, but the restrooms were all top-notch and some of the largest lounge restrooms I have ever seen.

Internet, Noise, and Charging

While in the lounge, I used and tested the Wi-Fi, and getting connected was very simple. There were lots of people in the lounge, but the performance was still very solid. I did several speed tests, and the best of them was 89.2 Mbps (down) and 63.7 Mbps (up), with a ping time of 7 ms. The noise in the lounge was a bit on the loud side (although, I did not take a measurement), but as mentioned above, they do have quiet rooms and work rooms to help with this if you need a quiet area. There are charging ports located all around the lounge and at almost all seating areas.

Closing Thoughts

Great place to relax or work. Healthy menu options were very enjoyable, but I know some people will complain there is not a burger or fries to choose from. This lounge really has everything a traveler might need except for a shower or beds.
